NEW REVELLiE

Did you know Revellie has been given the "boot"? Yes, our beloved Collie given the doomed dog role of trying to please the Corp of Cadets, the Crowd and the Canine Loving Alumni, has been relegated to a life of backyard bingo.

Can you imagine the culture shock? One day you are on a "Big Dog" budget with the best food, housing and amenities one could hope for. You are the highest ranking member of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M, and you are a Five-Star General. The Crowd cheers for you, your picture is everywhere, your pawtograph is sought after and your social calendar would make Laura Bush weep. Then, the next day, you're living in the backyard with Joe Schmoe eating Purina kibble talking about "the good ole days".

That's where our Revellie is...and to add insult to injury, there is a lot of bark about getting an entirely different Revellie..no more Collie. Many traditionalists find this unspeakable, but if you don't believe me, check out this story, Reveille Search.

So the battle rages on to name a new Reveille...tradition VS modernist. Who will win? I say either employ another Collie to follow in the long-standing tradition since 1931 or give it up altogether and get a gerbil...I mean, if you're going to obliterate tradition and render it completely meaningless, then why not get a mascot that is cheaper to feed, cheaper to house and likes to play "in the pocket"??
