I haven't met Michael but I've had several clients use Rover Oaks and have been pleased. I think the Inner Loop business that help owners take care of their dogs while at work are such a service to the community. As a real estate agent, at Urban Leasing and Realty, who helps pet owners find pet friendly homes to purchase and for rent, I commend you. You are doing your part to contribute to Houston's economy and quality of life of pets and residents. Thank you!

To Whom It May Concern:

Being dog's week and reading your article recently about Laws Protecting Paws, I was wondering if their was any update regarding Dr. Dawn Blackman, Head of Harris County Animal Control abusing dogs and cats. The tax payers of Houston are paying Dr. Blackman $150K to destroy animals throughout Houston's Animal shelters. She's not even giving them a chance to be rescued. What happened to "NO KILL SHELTERS" in Texas? What happened to the laws protecting these animals?
The Humane Society of the U.S., estimates that 3 to 4 million cats and dogs are killed in shelters in the U.S. every year. This does not include cats and dogs killed in animal cruelty cases and abandoned animals that die later. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to hear about these new laws, but in the big picture, animals in Houston are being destroyed every day at an alarming rate and still no changes for them.
The time has come Ladies and Gentlemen, to stop thinking of animal rights as distracting or less deserving of our time and energy than other struggles for social justice. As Martin Luther King, Jr., said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere". All oppression, prejudice, violence, and cruelty are wrong and must be rejected no matter how novel the idea or how inconvenient the task.
