National Train Your Dog Month
January is National Train Your Dog Month! The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) started the annual celebration of training and relationship-building for people and their dogs 3 years ago. Every year it’s gotten bigger and better.
There are some great things planned to help you get in the spirit, and start training.
- Watch me on FOX 26 Morning News every Thursday Morning in the 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. hour teaching dog training. You’ll get a chance to see lots of different dogs learning cool stuff – and you can follow along at home.
- Check out my article in January / February issue of Houston PetTalk Magazine about using food in training (it’s a good thing). We’re going to dispel some myths about the use of food, including the idea that it will somehow spoil your dog (not true).
- Listen to Your Pet’s Health with Dr. Brian Beale on KTRH radio Sunday January 8th . We’ll be talking about my PetTalk food article, and how to teach crazy adolescent some self control.
- All of our training services at Rover Oaks Pet Resort are discounted this month, so come join the training fun.
The APDT is offering FREE webinars and Facebook Chats all months. It’s a great way to learn about training and behavior problems. Visit www.trainyourdogmonth.com.
It’s never too late to train your dog, and training certainly doesn’t have to be tedious and boring. It’s fun. Plus, it will make your life with your dog that much enjoyable. Don’t wait. January is the month to get started.
