New Doggy Party On The Plaza Photos!

Pictures are up from Houston PetTalk and’s first Signature Event, Doggy Party on the Plaza this past Saturday! The event was a HUGE success! It took place at CityCentre and was sponsored by Natura Pet Products, makers of wholesome and healthy food and treats for your pet.
Natura Pet Products gave away lots of food samples and educated pet owners about good pet nutrition. There were over 50 vendors, face painting, Petrene Soames pet psychic, Fleabit photography and several high energy demonstrations including dog training by Lone Star Pet Lodges, bomb sniffing dogs by the Houston Metro Police and Frisbee dogs by Bark’s Fifth Avenue.

Houston’s BARC Needs Help: Too Many Animals

The Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care (BARC) has experienced a drastic increase in the number of animals turned into the shelter in the previous two weeks. The average daily intake over this period is approximately 100 animals, and the average number of animals in residence per day is 720.

On April 15, BARC experienced a total animal intake of 184 animals. The number of animals in residence as of this morning is 878. This population level is absolutely unsustainable. The BARC facility was designed to shelter 600 animals, and existing foster and rescue networks are at capacity as well.
