The city of Houston recently announced plans to build an “animal campus”, including a 30,000 square foot pet adoption facility, at Gragg Park (2999 S. Wayside).

Houston Pavilions and Pup Squad Animal Rescue present the Puppy Love Yappy Hour, Thursday, February 11, 5pm-8pm, in the new Pup Squad Adoption Center at the Houston Pavilions.
Pup Squad is an animal rescue group whose goal is to rescue orphaned puppies, kittens and nursing litters from the streets and other life-threatening situations and match them with permanent adoptive homes, and to provide support and education to these adopters and the community at large.

On February 13, Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue group will be at Animal Tales in Katy from 10 am – 1 pm for a Volunteer Open House and Meet and Greet, as mentioned in the January edition of Houston Lifestyles and Homes. Animal Tales has a wonderful supply of high-quality natural foods and treats, as well as leashes, dog beds and more. This is a great chance to shop for your special canines, to meet Golden Beginnings volunteers and learn about volunteer opportunities, or to meet some of our available dogs.

Come find a new love on Saturday, February 13, 2010.
Camp Bow Wow Kemah is hosting its 2nd Annual Cupid and Canines Adoption Event from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. There will be treats for both people and pups and fun for the whole family. Every rescue organization in the Houston area has been invited so there will be adoptable dogs of all shapes and sizes onsite.
Even if you aren’t looking for a new four legged companion, all animal lovers should come on down to Kemah. There will be pet related vendors including pet sitters, trainers, groomers and veterinarians attending as well.
Camp Bow Wow will be offering special discounts the day of the event, and all pups adopted from the Cupids and Canines event will receive a certificate for a FREE daycare package. The event is free to the public.

As part of the Purina ONE Tour For Heroes national mobile pet food bank, on Friday, Feb. 12, we will be giving away free dog and cat food and holding an adoption event at the Houston Humane Society from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Every pet owner who visits the event will receive one 8-lb. bag of Purina ONE dog food or one 3.5-lb. bag of cat food, as long as supplies last.

All dogs are current on vaccinations and flea preventatives and bathed. All medical care has been taken care of (or will be if needed), and fosters are provided with supplies, food and wire crate.

Don’t be fooled by the sweet face. This little girl is a sassy, independent bit of fluff. Born around the end of October, Lucie was rescued by Scout’s Honor from BARC (the Houston pound). Our best guess is that Lucie is a mix puppy of sorts, but it’s too soon to tell what exactly! Lucie is full of personality, and her antics will keep you laughing. Lone Star Pet Lodges is proud to partner with Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas who rescue, rehabilitate and re-home homeless Cocker Spaniels in the greater Houston area. Lone Star’s valuable assistance will help CSR care for approximately 400 abandoned Cocker Spaniels this year. CSR has many beautiful dogs pulled from shelters, found by Good Samaritans and in some cases, turned in by owners.
CSR volunteers groom new arrivals, take them to the vet for examination and immunizations, and treat for health issues such as heartworms and ear infections. …
