Speak. A simple command: even a dog can do it, but one day I couldn’t.
I’d lost my voice due to a damaged nerve, and with it, my ability to communicate with the models I directed through 37 years of photo shoots. The silver lining: I finally had the time to experiment with digital photography, but I still need subjects. I found them looking up at me: dogs. I didn’t need words to communicate with my twin Westies, just calm body language, plus a few squeaky toys and treats. I got my voice back, and have been working with dogs ever since. A collection of my dog photos was released as a book, Dogs I’ve Nosed, and was recently followed by a sequel, Dogs I’ve Nosed II; I hope you enjoy it.

Many rescues were on hand, along with vendors, contests and more. Thank you to the many volunteers for the event, the rescues and the employees of Camp Bow Wow for making this event a great venue for adopting pets in need of a home.
Also, be sure to make your Spring Break reservations right away at Camp Bow Wow where boarding and daycare are more fun than you can imagine for your pup!

Crime Stoppers has a new plan to put a dent in a crime that law
enforcement says is increasing in Harris County.
On Wednesday they announced the second annual animal cruelty and
anti-dog fighting campaign.
Investigators are targeting a quarter mile area east of U.S. 59 off of
West Little York known as the “Corridor of Cruelty.”
It’s one of the saddest locations in all of Houston that’s been
frustrating officers and animal lovers for more than a year.
People come there to dump unwanted animals.
“It is a crime to dump live animals,” said Belinda Smith, Harris County
Assistant District Attorney.
