As the Highland Village Holiday Adoption Event wrapped up on Sunday, the organizers were happy to announce that approximately 120 of our four-legged friends found homes in the two weekends the event took place!
The turn-out of supporters, volunteers, visitors and adopters was great during this busy time of year. There were many barks, smiles, jumps and kisses as signs of gratitude.
Due to the success of the adoption event, Highland Village is allowing the event to continue with weekend adoption events! Be sure to stop by and see the cats and dogs in need …

The First Annual Movie Night & Silent Auction for Scout’s Honor Rescue on November 6th was a success, raising over $50,000. The event was held at the River Oaks Theater, featuring a private screening of “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey”.
Epicure Cafe provided not only the perfect venue for the silent auction, but also a live band and an incredible array of hors d’oeuvres, petit-fours and cookies, and a wide selection of fine wines. California Pizza Kitchen donated 20% of the receipts from any of the guests’ …

The Woodlands Dog Park Club’s 2nd Annual Festival of Trees & ‘Treesure’ Hunt
Benefiting Homeless Animals
Beginning November 19th and running through December 13th, TWDPC wants folks to keep an eye out for several beautifully decorated trees, on display at nine area businesses. The trees have been lovingly and creatively decorated by various individuals and local businesses and are on display with Silent Auction bid sheets, as well as information about each tree’s designers and sponsors.

Many of you may remember Mollie, the Houston PetTalk 3-legged cover girl for the February 2007 issue who was in need of a good home. Our feature in that issue focused on breed rescue and the many dogs in various breed rescue groups awaiting adoption. Houston pets can now breathe easier! It took two years and more than $7,000, but all of Houston’s fire stations are finally equipped with pet oxygen masks, thanks to the generosity of Houston pet lovers and Best Friends Cause for Paws Pet Oxygen Masks campaign. In total, more than 130 sets of the life saving masks have been donated to the Houston Fire Department, making it possible to outfit every station and to have some extras available for replacement.
