Jack Byrnes would be proud. The uptight character played by Robert De Niro in Meet The Parents made us laugh at the very idea of toilet training his cat, Mr. Jinx. In one comedic turn, Byrnes popularized something all cat lovers universally wish they could do: rescue their furry friends from the evils of litter - the odor, the clean up, the cost. Now, a quirky new gift book arrives in stores to offer felines a nine-step program for leaving litter behind.
Combining ironic humor with an utterly practical guide, ‘KiCK LiTTER: Nine-Step Program for Recovering Litter Addicts’ (November 2008, CDA Press) follows the adventures of two cats, Moxie and Cooper (and the big guy who feeds them), taking their message of recovery from litter addiction to the masses.

It’s that time again! Calendars. In this day of Blackberrys and IPhones, give me a good old fashioned wall calendar, any day. I love them and I love choosing my new calendar every year. Naturally, I go for some kind of dog themed calendar and there are always plenty to choose from. It seems like a very important decision. Clearly, you want a calendar that is interesting enough to look at every single day for the next year. This year, I got two.
The first one is the Snapshots calendar. All …

He absolutely understands the huge responsibility it is to own a dog (especially a pit bull rescue), and he plans on running with her and …

The clicker is widely regarded as the greatest breakthrough in modern animal training. Clicker training evolved from the training of marine animals. Since marine animals are usually at a distance (and in the water!), trainers found it difficult to instantly reward them for correct responses. While Marine animal trainers usually use a whistle to mark the behaviors (the sound travels better underwater), we use a simple piece of metal and plastic which clarifies (in the dog’s mind), what is expected of him at an exact point in time without …

Henrietta’s Deepest Thoughts
I’m not one to brag, boast or blow my own horn (but I have occasionally been known to understate my dress size, wine consumption and negative feelings for Hollywood hypocrites) but I must tell you that my fan mail bag is bursting at the seams. Well…perhaps not bursting but there are definitely Henrietta-istas in our midst!
Most folks want to know more about moi. I have apparently raised the curiosities of many and not wanting these lovers of all things dog to revel in uncertainty, I have opted to …

I’ve never considered myself a political “animal” but I couldn’t help getting into the dogfight this election turned out to be (actually, when I think about it, all elections are dogfights. Maybe McCain should have hired Michael Vick to be his campaign manager because that’s someone that really “digs” dogfighting and has a heart of stone…perfect for politics). Now that I have officially come of age to vote, which I took full advantage of (I took every poll, campaign sticker, button and sign offered), it’s interesting to look back at …
