Pets and their people are invited to the annual Blessing of the Animals service at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. It will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 4, on the church’s Jones Plaza and adjacent lawn. The worship service will feature music by St. Paul’s children’s choirs. The Houston Police Department’s mounted patrol, which has lead the processional since this service’s inception at St. Paul’s, has been invited again.
The service will begin with a procession of the animals and end with an opportunity for each pet to receive an individual blessing. All pets should be held or remain on leashes or within carriers; stuffed animals are welcome. Those whose pets do not travel well or do not get along well with other animals may bring a photograph of their pet. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
