Friends For Life, Houston’s fastest growing No Kill animal adoption and rescue organization, welcomes New York Times bestselling author Gwen Cooper for a book signing and reading Saturday, May 11. During her only Houston stop on a national tour, Cooper will perform a book signing and read an excerpt from “Love Saves the Day.” Books will be for sale during the event with complimentary wine and light bites offered. Each guest will also receive a free Litter Genie Plus ®, a cat litter disposal system helping control litter odor without the daily trips to the garbage can (from the makers of the wildly popular Diaper Genie). Arm & Hammer™ will donate 500 pounds of Ultra Last Clumping Cat Litter™ to Friends For Life and Weruva (“People Food for Cats”) will donate 400 cans of food. Both generous donations will be used through the organization’s Thinking Outside the Shelter program which provides animal supplies and assistance to those who find themselves in temporarily difficult circumstances.
Cooper received critical acclaim for her first cat book, the memoir “Homer’s Odyssey,” from such celebrated media outlets as USA Today and People. The memoir documented her experience in adopting a three-week-old eyeless kitten who’d been abandoned and the valuable life lessons she learned.
Her second book for feline-followers, “Loves Saves the Day”, is a poignant, insightful and laugh-out-loud funny tale about hope, healing, and how the love of an animal can make all of us better humans. It’s the story of a mother and daughter divided by the turmoil of bohemian New York, and the opinionated, irrepressible feline who will become the bridge between them. It’s a novel for anyone who’s ever lost a loved one, wondered what their cat was really thinking, or fallen asleep with a purring feline nestled in their arms.
