SNAP To Provide FREE Spay & Neuter To “Corridor of Cruelty”

Houston-based nonprofit, SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance Program, Inc.) is lending a hand to help animals in one area hit hard by animal dumping and abandonment.  Dubbed the “Corridor of Cruelty” by local animal advocates, the area is just east of highway 59 and Little York and is home to countless homeless, hungry and sick animals, especially dogs.

Through a generous donation by The Glasgow Foundation, SNAP will be taking its state-of-the-art mobile surgery clinic into the area, where it will provide free spay and neuter surgeries, as well as rabies vaccinations and some limited wellness products, to animals that are found in the area.  In addition, the free day is open to area residents who qualify.  To find out if you qualify, visit www.snapus.org.

“The Corridor of Cruelty is one of the saddest locations in Houston,” said Susan Lamb, community program manager of SNAP’s mobile clinic.  “Abused and neglected animals dominate the landscape, and more seem to arrive daily,” she concluded.

In an effort to curb the growth of this animal population and to improve the quality of life of these animals, SNAP will hold four free mobile days, beginning with the first on February 23 at the Office Depot located at 10724 Eastex and Little York. Details about the three additional free days will be added soon. Space is limited, and surgeries are granted on a first come, first served basis.  To learn more about this free resource and additional free days provided by SNAP, visit www.snapus.org or call 713-862-3863.

The SNAP mobile clinic will be back out in the Corridor of Cruelty on Tuesday, March 24. The clinic on February 23 was a HUGE success – 24 animals were altered! Thank you SNAP Team for all your hard work all year round…..
