2015 “Among Friends” Gala
Friends For Life will host the “Among Friends” Gala at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the historical and industrial chic hot spot, The Astorian, in the Heights area. Friends For Life is Houston’s only no kill animal adoption and rescue organization.
The event is chaired by Christine and Micheal McWilliams, and Terri and Roger Peak, along with Underwriting Chair Don Sanders. Guests will be greeted by Cassie, a FFL alumni dog with a furry curtsey. Mistress of Ceremonies Courtney Perna of KHOU will welcome the animal lovers as they enjoy a unique custom crafted dinner menu created by Chef David Cordua who has brought Houston such fabulous restaurants as Churrascos and Americas.
Entertainment will be provided by the Midlife Crisis and the Hot Flashes band. Artist Dan Dunn, recently appearing with the Houston Symphony in a one man show, will be painting on site. Pet portraits can be purchased and a more than half of the proceeds will benefit Friends For Life. Raffle tickets for a $10,000 American Express card are available for $100 each and limited tickets will be sold.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to give back by purchasing custom labeled wine at the Mission Market, where each level will help fund daily animal shelter needs. The $50 Baby Bottle will fund vaccines for puppies and kittens, the $100 Vintage Bottle will fund senior animal wellness, and the $150 Special Reserve Bottle will fund medical surgeries.

We’re overwhelmed with the support from the community that allows us to continue to grow our unique and life-saving programs for Houston animals,” said Salise Shuttlesworth, Executive Director of Friends For Life.
