Kickapoo Ranch of Houston Hires New Dog Trainer
Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort is excited to announce that it has hired Kayla Dohmen as its Director of Training. Kayla is a certified Canine Training and Behavior Specialist and received her diploma from the prestigious Triple Crown Academy for Professional Dog Trainers. Triple Crown, located in Hutto, Texas, is the largest, most comprehensive boarding, training, behavior and event center for dogs in the world. Kayla is also an approved American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen® evaluator and certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. Kayla will join the Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort team this fall, when she moves to Houston from her current home in West Virginia. Kayla has held successful training positions at several pet resorts, including in West Virginia and Minnesota, and was also employed as a dog trainer at Triple Crown Academy immediately after graduation.
Kayla has tremendous experience and excels in training a wide variety of dog breeds in basic through advanced obedience, including dogs with aggressive temperaments. She loves to conduct engaging, informative and results-oriented group training classes, including beginner through advanced classes in obedience, agility and more. Kayla understands that every dog has a unique personality and that learning is a lifelong journey. She enjoys sharing her knowledge (aka, “talking dog”) with pet parents and takes great satisfaction from helping them effectively communicate with their furry friends, ensuring that both dogs and pet parents are happy and well adjusted.
Originally from rural Minnesota, Kayla was born with an incredible love for animals. Experience training and showing dogs in 4-H as a young girl was instrumental in her decision to pursue a career working with dogs. Kayla currently shares her home with, Alfie, a two-year old Papillon (which is from the French word for butterfly) and Macon, a four-year old Australian Shepherd. Alfie is currently working towards an agility title and Macon loves long walks with a little Frisbee toss thrown in!
