Lulu’s looking for a new home after getting a new lease on life!Lulu has had it rough so far in her 3 years of life - she was rescued from an animal shelter in California where she was on the path to euthaniasia from overcrowding. She was brought to Texas, adopted to what was supposed to be her forever home through Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP), and then ended up at the Houston SPCA after being hit by a car. The family that adopted her signed her over to SPCA, since her injuries were severe and they couldn’t afford what was needed for her treatment. CAP regained custody of Lulu, and foster mom Joy Lee, co-owner of Rover Oaks Pet Resort in Katy, took her to see Dr. Brian Beale at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. The trauma of being hit by the car had left little Lulu with a broken femur, shattered pelvis, and fractured tail – pretty serious injuries.
Luckily, Dr. Beale was able to repair her fracture and her pelvis, as well as amputate her tail, and Lulu is on the road to recovery. She will have to have extensive rehabilitation following several weeks of crate rest, and while she could face some trials along the way, we are all hoping for her full recovery, so Lulu can finally find a home and family where she belongs. While Lulu still has some recovery time before she is ready for a new forever home, many other wonderful dogs, cats and small animals are available at CAP’s new state-of-the-art shelter at 17555 Katy Freeway (I-10 and Barker-Clodine).
