AKC Survey: Dogs Will Help Owner’s Achieve New Year’s Resolutions

Forget about the treadmill. A recent American Kennel Club® (AKC®) New Year’s survey revealed that dog owners will use Fido to assist with a New Year’s resolution to exercise more. In fact nearly 75% of respondents intend on incorporating their dog into their 2011 fitness goals.

While exercising with Fido is the most popular choice, other respondents mentioned more unique resolutions such as “stop making the dog wear those silly hats for New Year’s,” while another promised to make all “Tuesdays ‘trim toenails’ day.”

AKC SURVEY FINDS DOGS WHO CHEW UP HOUSEHOLD ITEMS MOST LIKELY TO END UP ON SANTA’S NAUGHTY LIST

Results from a recent American Kennel Club® (AKC®) holiday survey reveal that one of the most popular reasons (15%) that Fido is most likely to end up on Santa’s naughty list is for chewing up anything and everything. One person admitted that the family dog had chewed up “six cell phones, one camera, about 15 remote controls, and five pairs of sunglasses.”

Interestingly enough, though, the family dog was the least likely to get coal in his stocking (6%). Respondents stated that the most likely would be themselves (46%), followed by their spouse (31%), then their kids (16%).
