Here’s an excerpt from a great new pet-themed read: Taking Chancey! See below for more information on where to purchase it.
“From my birth somewhere along the cornfields of Des Moines, Iowa to the gorgeous sugar-white beaches of Pensacola, Florida to the humongous hustle and bustle of city life in Houston, Texas, I, CHANCEY, have traveled many miles to live with my fabulous humans, Hank and Marla. My life with them started in Pensacola when they stared at me in a crate. I would only show them my rear all the while I was scratching a comfortable corner of my crate to lie down for my nap. However, Marla insisted seeing my face (I must say, my adorable face!) so the crate was opened, I crawled onto her left shoulder and it was instant love for her, Hank, and of course, me! Little did I know my adventures were just beginning.
“Taking Chancey” started out to be just a journal of Chancey’s life from the many events leading up to our adoption of him through all of the events the three of us continue to encounter. I was journaling this story in my spare time just for fun. As I continued to write about Chancey, a mutual dog lover found out about this story and contacted me. I sent him what I had written, he loved it and encouraged me to continue writing the story and pursue publication. After researching publishers, I contacted Archway Publishing, a division of Simon and Schuster. Their editor also loved the story and asked for a conclusion so it could get published. The rest is history. The book is written from both my perspective and Chanceys.”
The book is currently being sold in paperback at Brazos Bookstore and can also be ordered on-line as a paperback or e-book at Brazos Book Store, Barnes and Nobles, Half-Price Books, Books-a-Million, Blue Willow Bookstore, Amazon.com, and Archway.com.
