On April 19, 2026, Emancipet will partner with the City of Houston’s BARC Animal Shelter and
Adoptions to host Pet Wellness Day, a community event focused on keeping pets healthy and
ensuring veterinary care is accessible to every family. The event will take place at the Northeast
Multiservice Center, located at 9720 Spaulding St, Houston, TX 77016.
Houston is home to more than 730,000 pets living with families who love them but cannot
always afford the veterinary care their animals need. Through Pet Wellness Day, Emancipet
aims to help close that gap by providing free vaccines and microchips to hundreds of dogs and
cats, helping build a healthier and safer future for pets and the people who care for them.
During the event, pet families will have access to the following free services:

These essential preventive services help protect pets from serious diseases and increase the
likelihood that lost pets can be reunited with their families.
Emancipet opened its first Houston clinic in 2015 with the mission of making veterinary care
accessible to all pet families. When Hurricane Harvey struck in 2017, the organization expanded
its commitment to the community by providing free veterinary care for three months to help
families and pets recover together.
As demand has grown, Emancipet has expanded to three clinics across Houston—on Wayside
Drive, at Monroe Plaza, and on Northwest Freeway inside PetSmart. Together, these clinics
serve more than 70,000 visits each year, offering affordable spay and neuter services, vaccines,
life-saving heartworm treatment, and other essential veterinary care.Despite these efforts, the need for accessible veterinary services continues to grow. Pet
Wellness Day represents another step toward ensuring every Houston pet family can access the
care they need.
