West U Vet is a new animal hospital at Weslayan and Bissonnet. Doug Dawson, DVM and Galen Kaufman, DVM, PhD are the practicing veterianarians and hospital owners. They met when they worked at another local clinic and formed a friendship and later a partnership. The hospital has been open for a few months and has been doing a lot of work with local rescue organizations like Buster’s Friends, HOPE, Pet Connect, and a number of others in the metroplex.
There will be a “Grand Opening” celebration on August 7, 2010 to celebrate summer, good veterinary care and the opening of an establishment that provides quality affordable care for Houston’s pet population. We will also celebrate the wonderful work that the rescue organizations provide. There will be a Bake Sale with all of the proceeds going to help the rescue groups continue to provide valuable service to the community by helping to feed and house all of the homeless pets that they take in. Stop by for a Meet and Greet with the doctors and staff, music, food (including Fizzy Fruit), adoption booths, balloon animals, face painting, a photo booth, and paw polishing. Towards the end of the event there will be a cake walk and a raffle for various prizes. We will also be debuting a new line of pet treats called WUV-able Treats that are homemade by West U Vet’s staff.
The festivities will be Saturday, August 7th from 1pm-4pm so take the kids and your friendly leashed pets and celebrate with West U vet and your local rescue groups. Donations and contributions are accepted and appreciated.
