30 Dogs Painted in 30 Days is DONE…. Now what?
Having captured the hearts of dog-lovers everywhere – not to mention the media spotlight in Texas’ largest city – with her pet portraits, Houston-area artist Leiann Klein has nearly completed her 30 dogs in 30 days painting project.
The dog paintings, based on photos submitted by the proud parents of various pups and each completed in a single day, are being auctioned ONLINE at www.30dogs30days.com through Saturday, May 10. The painting sales and additional money raised by Klein will benefit Operation Pets Alive, a Montgomery County no-kill pet rescue. The ongoing fundraising auction ends Saturday at 8 pm.
There will also be a reception Saturday 5-9 pm at the art gallery Studio in the Woods offering the general public a chance to see (and bid on???) the paintings of the top dogs before the artwork ships to the top bidders. The gallery is located at 26002 Budde Rd. (north of Sawdust Road) in Spring, Texas; phone 713-249-8545.
But that’s not the end of the story. With 50 percent of all dog portrait proceeds going to Operation Pets Alive, Klein has announced a goal of raising $10,000 dollars by the end of the year to go to the organization. But to do so, Klein needs some help.
There are three ways Klein, who launched the project this spring and painted daily throughout April, suggests those who care for animal welfare can still help.
- There are still a few canine canvases that have not been bid upon. Take a look at www.30dogs30days.com website or find the project on Facebook and bid on your favorite. You don’t even have to own a dog!
- In addition to the completed canvasses, Klein is offering an exclusive chance to bid on three more BLANK canvases. So if you submitted a photo of your pet but were not chosen or are just finding out about 30 dogs in 30 days, this is your chance to commission a personal pet portrait while giving 50% of the sale to Operation Pets Alive.
- Moreover, after May 10, Klein plans to offer other blank canvases in a variety of sizes to raise funds for Operation Pets Alive. These canvases will also be dedicated to commissioned pet portraits in the 30 dogs in 30 days style with funds from each going directly back to O.P.A. “There are so many ways to help us reach our financial goal while receiving an incredible piece of artwork in the process,” says Klein. “I want people to be involved and stay connected on this incredible arts journey. It’s a great way to give back.”
Don’t forget, the last chance to bid on the 30 Dogs in 30 Days auction is Saturday, May 10, at 8 pm. The gallery reception at Studio in the Woods in The Woodlands runs 5-9 pm.
