Make room in your heart and in your home for some incredible dogs up for adoption from Corridor Rescue Inc. I’m a huge fan of Corridor Rescue and all of their dogs are amazing. But these three have a very special story. Minnie, Bambi and Vixey are part of a program that teams up homeless dogs with some special kids.
Here’s the write-up on them from Corridor Rescue. The dogs are participants in “Corridor Rescue Inc.’s Project HEEL (Helping Empower Everyone’s Lives) Program, a partnership between Corridor Rescue Inc. and Harris County Juvenile Probation Department. Project HEEL is an 8-week series animal assisted violence intervention program, which places an intense emphasis on promoting self-discipline and responsibility among the boys (age 13 -17) residing at the Harris County Leadership Academy.
Project HEEL encourages compassion, empathy, companionship, trust, and forgiveness; proper pet care and obedience skills. Identifying the challenging issues our youth face today, Project HEEL’s goal is for both the dogs and the boys to experience the healing process and abilities of human – animal connection.
What cool program. Minnie, Bambi and Vixey have all started training with the boys, so they’re off to a good start. If you are interested in adopting any of them please contact CorridorRescue@gmail.com or visit the Corridor website to download an adoption application at www.CorridorRescue.org.
I’m very happy to say I will be volunteering with Project HEEL as a consulting trainer. Reward-based training is such a fantastic way to build relationship skills. I can’t wait to meet the next group of dogs and the great kids who will be training them.
