Props to Harris County. This is a fabulous idea!!
i think its cruel and demeaning to animals!!! you shouldnt make animals do that!!! STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!
Is it better to euthanize them because there are not enough homes for the animals born? There are approximately 80,000 healthy animals killed each year in Houston due to overpopulation. I personally believe spay/neuter is more humane than killing the animal. And, it’s proven to prevent certain cancers and disease and they will live longer and healthier.
I wish this was more widespread- Phoenix does it citywide for all pits and pit mixes. I have a foster pit that if I cannot find an affordable spay will likely turn out to be pregnant (was picked up stray). Tell me that all the pups will go to responsible pet owners no matter how hard we try?
Pitts are the best I couldn’t live with out mine
Durango he is a daddy now (not my idea it happend before we took him to be nutered) and the pupps are getting very responsible homes THEY LOOK LIKE THERE DADDY!!!!!
we love dogs
Good idea! Thanks
Good idea in theory, however why just limit it to TWO zipcodes? Are those the ONLY zipcodes that have pitbulls living in them? ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS I THINK!!!!! C’mon Harris County…what about the people who WANT AND ARE REALLY TRYING TO BE RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS but cant afford the outragous and blown out of proportion vet bills???!!!
To Wendy, no offense, but if people can’t afford to take care of the pet, don’t get one. People often fall in love with the idea of owning a pet and don’t think the entire process through. It is expensive to own a pet, believe me, I know. We have 4 dogs, all neutered or spayed. All eating quality food, all on heart worm and flea prevention. It gets quite spendy when we have to take them in, even for their yearly exams. Recently our Jack Russel ate a Sego Palm nut. After two days in the vet’s office and $900.00 dollars later, she has bounced back. Check around, there are other alternatives for vaccinations. I’ll bet if you Googled “Pet Vaccination Services Houston” you will run across something.
I WOULD LIKE TO BRING THE WHITE PIT TO MY HOUSE HERE IN CALIFORNIA
