Letter From Houston Dog Park Association
(Note: Learn more about HDPA at their Annual Meeting at Shady Tavern, a dog friendly ice house in the Heights, this Saturday Feb 19th at 3 pm)
Our Prez Tiffany Moore recommended FIVE locations for dog parks in the West Reach of the Greens Bayou Corridor Coalition community workshop at a meeting Feb. 16. They are developing parks in NW Houston and Houston Dog Park Association is on it like flies on poop.
Their West Reach covers area from Veterans Memorial to 290 and from the Beltway out to Cypress Creek. Dog Parks in this region could serve Spring, Tomball, Willowbrook and Cypress. One dog park Tiffany recommended even included a lure course amenity.
Keep your fingers crossed for us and thanks for all the petition signatures over the last 2 years on paper and online. I turned those over today to show proof of how 1500 people signed their name for support of a NW area dog park! All we need from you now is donations. The National Parks System staff in attendance ran the show (they will help build some of these parks along with Harris county parks dept. 3 and 4) said matter of factly that money talks and interest groups who can put up money to aid in park construction fees will get the most favorable responses to their requests.
In every way it was a great meeting and HDPA was proud to be there representing dog lovers all over NW Houston.
Now we ask you to show how much you want a large fabulous well outfited dog park nearby that you can visit each day after work.
Please make a generous donation to help us get a dog park for YOU in far North and NW Houston. The money will ONLY be used for a NW area dog park. Note NWDP on your check. Mail your check for $100, $250 or $500 to HDPA, Po Box 20823 Houston TX 77225. More generous donations are certainly welcome and we are a 501c3. Donations are tax deductible and we will provide a charitable contribution receipt. THANK YOU!

So glad I found you! I had been sending e-mails to Eversole and parks dept, and responses were totally negative and disinterested. We are currently driving our 3 dogs to Bear Creek for off-leash time, a 45 min trip each way. We definitely need an off-leash park in the Northwest corridor. I would love to help your cause. Please contact me. Thanks for your good work!
