People and their pooches will take steps toward a world free of multiple sclerosis in the Walk MS: Sugar Land and The Woodlands events on Nov. 11. The Walk MS: Houston 2012 series, presented by KBR, is the signature fundraising initiative for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The Walk series has 4 locations, but the Sugar Land and The Woodlands are the only that welcome pets to join their owners on one mile or 5K routes.
Sugar Land pet parent, Candace Macha, will walk with her chocolate lab puppy, Lucy Lu and her father in the upcoming Walk MS: Sugar Land on Nov. 10. By the age of 28 Candace was shocked to know 5 people that have been severely affected by MS. She decided to ride in the BP MS 150 to show her support for them. In her preparation for the ride she learned of many more people that were affected by the disease. After the ride she was greeted at the finish line with enthusiastic cheers and excessive gratitude of those with MS. Candace has been a part of the MS movement since then and vows to participate in many events to come. The walks allow Candace to share the experience with her dog.
