Organizers of "Movie Night"

The First Annual Movie Night & Silent Auction for Scout’s Honor Rescue on November 6th was a success, raising over $50,000.  The event was held at the River Oaks Theater, featuring a private screening of “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey”.

Epicure Cafe provided not only the perfect venue for the silent auction, but also a live band and an incredible array of hors d’oeuvres, petit-fours and cookies, and a wide selection of fine wines.  California Pizza Kitchen donated 20% of the receipts from any of the guests’ purchases throughout the evening, in addition to hosting the VIP After Party.

Scout’s Honor was formed in May 2006 by six volunteer rescuers who decided to pool their experience and love for animals to make a difference in Houston.  They are often the last resort for animals abandoned to die in pounds or on the streets.  Scout’s Honor rescues animals from Houston and surrounding areas, including animals from BARC (the Houston city pound) and the City of La Porte animal shelter.

The event was organized and underwritten by Don Puryear, a Realtor with RE/MAX Metro and the owner of Happy Tails Dog Spa.   Don is deeply committed to animal rescue:  Through Happy Tails, he provides bathing, grooming and fostering services for dogs in need of permanent homes, and through his real estate practice, he regularly donates from his commissions to the rescue organization or shelter of his clients’ choice.

There are currently over 75 dogs and cats in their program awaiting adoption.  You can make a difference in the lives of these animals.  www.ScoutsHonor.org
